There has been a lot of "fake" Hoodia on the market. Fake Hoodia can contain either no Hoodia, or the wrong species of Hoodia.A genuine CITES certificate is a starting point but unfortunately no guarantee. A CITES certificate only indicates that some quantity of South African Hoodia was once purchased by somebody, it does not guarantee how much if any of that genuine South African Hoodia ended up in the tablets you are considering purchasing.
The picture is further complicated because some retailers genuinely don't know that the Hoodia they are selling is fake. Unscrupulous suppliers can purchase a small quantity of South African Hoodia to gain a CITES certificate, then sell other species of Hoodia to the retailer, often species from China that contain no P57 whatsoever.
The only guarantee that you have a genuine Hoodia product is if your retailer can trace their Hoodia all the way back to the grower in South Africa. This is why we can be certain that our Hoodia is genuine. We back this up with independent laboratory analysis that confirms that our Hoodia Gordonii can be certified as "Top Grade", which means it contains more than 0.15% of the active P57 molecule.
Hoodia Help... Comparing Hoodia Strengths
Another favourite ruse of Hoodia retailers is to bamboozle you with the strength of their Hoodia tablets. They can do this because of the confusion between the amount of Hoodia 20:1 extract in their tablet and the amount of Hoodia plant this is equivalent to.Genuine South African Hoodia Gordonii comes as a 20:1 extract. That means every milligram of Hoodia extract in your tablet is equivalent to 20 milligrams of Hoodia plant.
As an example, consider the popular Hoodia strength quoted as 700mg. In fact this contains only 35mg of Hoodia extract. This will become clear when you see how small the tablets are once you have purchased them. The 700mg is the equivalent amount of Hoodia plant and is the actual amount of extract, 35mg, multiplied by the strength of the extract, 20.
So when comparing Hoodia formulations therefore you need to know whether the quoted strength is the amount of 20:1 extract or the equivalent amount of Hoodia plant. This is why as a reputable retailer we quote both figures for our formulations.
Our lower strength Hoodia contains 100mg of 20:1 extract, equivalent to 2,000mg of Hoodia plant. This is nearly three times the strength of the popular 700mg tablets found all over the internet.
Our higher strength Hoodia contains 500mg of 20:1 extract, equivalent to a massive 10,000mg of Hoodia plant. This is more than fourteen times the strength of the popular 700mg tablet!.
