About RC5 Tincture
Rene Caisse called her herbal tea "Essiac", simply her surname spelt in reverse. Most traditional formulations contain just 4 herbs: Burdock Root, Sheep Sorrel, Rhubarb Root and Slippery Elm. However Rene Caisse added a fifth herb when it was in season... Red Clover firs! This fifth herb is now available all year round, so we include it in our tincture and have named it RC5 (ie Rene Caisse 5 herb formulation) to distinguish it from products missing this key 5th ingredient.Creating the Rene Caisse herbal formulation as a herbal tea is a time-consuming and messy process. Many important constituents of the herbs are not extracted by boiling water as they are insoluble in water. Treasure Your Health use an alcoholic tincture approach. This enables a much more complete extraction of the herbs than is possible with boiling water and leads to a much more concentrated product.
Each bottle provides 300ml of tincture - enough for 60 days at the recommended dosage of 5ml (one teaspoonful) per day. The alcohol in the tincture is roughly 25% of the dose. Should this present a moral or health problem a small amount of boiling water can be added to the tincture to remove the alcohol. Otherwise the tincture can be taken diluted with cold water or fruit juice to taste.
The recommended 2 hour fast on the label is to avoid the nausea which some people suffer from if they have eaten, or in particular consumed coffee or tea a short time before taking the RC5 tincture. The fast is not mandatory.
Our tincture is preserved indefinitely at normal room temperatures and as the bottle is opaque plastic it can be kept in normal light.

A. Creating the Rene Caisse herbal formulation as a herbal tea is a time-consuming and messy process. The herbal preparation is a decoction, using boiling water to extract the active ingredients from the herbs. This process suffers from several problems:- The tea method require lengthy preparation methods to boil the active ingredients out of the herbal tea.
- Many important constituents of the herbs are not extracted by boiling water as they are insoluble in water.
- Large amounts of the decoction are required several times a day to receive the required dosage, causing problems for patients who suffer from gastric problems.
- Storage is a problem as the decoction is unpreserved.
