Kelp Nutrition and Benefits

Kelp is a low-calorie nutrient-dense super-food bursting with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

In addition to iodine, kelp also provides antioxidants (carotenoids and flavonoids), antioxidants minerals (manganese and zinc) as well as fatty acids, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, vitamin K, vitamin A and other nutrients. It also contains "alginate" a natural fibre that helps prevent fat-absorption in your gut.

Iodine performs a vital role in the production of hormones produced by your thyroid gland. Your thyroid gland is a butterfly shaped gland in your neck that produces hormones that regulate many vital bodily functions. A deficiency of iodine can play a role in many body disorders. Your body gets iodine exclusively from your diet.

Each 1g serving provides 760mcg of Iodine, over 500% of the daily NRV (Nutritional Reference Value) of 150mcg.

Our kelp is sustainably wild-harvested from pristine sea-lochs in the Outer Hebrides. It comes in re-sealable foil-lined packets to keep the kelp as fresh as the day you opened the packet.

Always stick to the recommended dose of kelp as taking too much iodine can cause thyroid problems.
